THE PRAYER OF WORSHIP AND PRAISE                                                    Rev. Jay Maltby

Seven Kinds of Prayer

1.Prayer of Faith (petition) – Confess the Word of God. (Mark 11:23,24; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Cor. 1:20)
2.Prayer of Consecration – Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane. (Matt. 26:39-45; Luke 22:42)
3.United Prayer – All in one accord. (Acts 1:14; 2:1; 4:24)
4.Prayer of Agreement – (Matt. 18:19,20)
5.Prayer of Commitment – (Ps. 37:5; Pvb. 3:5,6; 16:3,9)
6.Prayer of Intercession – Interceding for others. Jesus (Romans 8:34; Heb. 7:25)
7.Prayer of Worship and Praise – Humbling, bowing down before the Lord with thanksgiving, magnifying His greatness and majesty in worship and Passionate confessions and songs with shouts of praise with leaping and dancing before the Lord.

We were created for fellowship and a relationship with God so we shouldn’t worry or be concerned that we might be using the wrong kind of prayer, “and stop praying”. He desires our attention and the more time that we spend in prayer to Him, the more we become like Him. (Ps. 46:10 Be still and know that I am God; Heb. 13:5b Amp… God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake you nor let you down, relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!; Romans 8:38,39; 1 Peter 2:9; Heb. 11:6 …God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him).

We do need to understand that we can be praying contrary to His will, such as, please heal me “if” it be Your will, (1 Peter 2:24 - Jesus already paid for our healing), or self-righteous works prayer requests. (James 4:3 - You ask and you do not receive because you ask amiss that you may spend it upon your own pleasures). We need to grow as “mature Christians” for a successful prayer life as partaking solid food and not of only milk as a babe unskilled in the Word. (Heb. 5:12, 13)

Romans 8:26 – The Spirit help us in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Eph. 6:18 – Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…

1 Thess. 5:17 - Pray without ceasing.

Ps. 100 Come before His presence with singing… Enter His gates with thanksgiving. Mix worship and praise with prayer. Heb. 4:16, 10:19 – Have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus. Eph. 2:18 – Through Jesus we have access by one Spirit to the Father. Pray first, make our requests be made known to God, then our next prayers should be praise and worship thanking Him for the answers to our prayers. We as mature praying children of God are believers, NOT BEGGARS, insulting the loving goodness of God’s character.

1 Cor. 14:15 – I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit and I will also sing with the understanding.

Praise

Acts 16:16-26 – Paul and Silas were beaten then put into prison and when they were praying and singing hymns to God, suddenly there was an earthquake that the foundations of the prison was shaken and everyone’s chains were loosed.

2 Samuel 6:13-16, 20-23 – King David danced before the Lord with all his might… and I will be even more undignified than this…

Luke 10:17-21 – Jesus rejoiced (jumped up and down) and thanked the Lord.

Worship

James 4:10 – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.

Job 1:20-22 – After Job lost everything, he fell to the ground and worshipped… In all this, Job did not sin nor charge God with this wrong.

John 4:23, 24 – True worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth. For the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth.

2 Chron. 20:1,2, 6-12, 18,19 Many enemy nations came together to battle against Jehoshaphat , King of Judah. King Jehoshaphat prayed, then he and all Judah bowed with face to the ground before the Lord, worshipping the Lord, then the Levites and all their children and Korahites and all their children stood up and praised the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.

Praise and worship God and tell Him that you love Him, instead of complaining and telling Him all of your troubles and needs. Luke 12:30 God knows the things that we need. Matt. 6:26 Your heavenly Father feeds the birds, you are much more value than they. Praise and worship will show God that you trust Him as your provider and expedite the things we need and desire.

CHRISTIAN ESCHATOLOGY & THE RAPTURE                                             Chaplain Jay Maltby

Christian Eschatology – A branch of study within Christian theology. Eschatology from two Greek words meaning “last” and “study”, is a study of end things, whether the end of an individual life, the end of the age, the end of the world and the nature of the Kingdom of God.

Key Verses – Matt. 24:36, 42-44, 25:13; Mark. 13:32, 33; No one knows the day or the hour that the Lord is coming.

Catching Up – “Raptures” in times past. The English word “rapture” is not found written in the bible, but is a modern word in the English language that is relevant to the Greek words “caught up” or “taken away” (Gk. harpazo).

1.Gen. 5:21-24; Heb.11:5 – Enoch was taken by God, “caught up” to heaven.
2.2 Kings 2:11 – Elijah “went up” by a whirlwind into heaven.
3.Acts 1:9-11 – Jesus was “taken up” from you into heaven and will come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

The Order of Events to Come

   1.Rapture - (GK. harpazo – caught up) 1 Thess. 4:16-5:11; 1 Cor. 15:50-55; Acts 1:9-11
a.The Lord descends from heaven, does not set foot on the earth, and shouts.
b.There is a sounding of the trumpet of God.
c.The dead, asleep in Christ, will receive their new immortal bodies.
d.We, who are alive in Christ, will receive our new immortal bodies.
e.All together we will meet the Lord in the clouds and taken to heaven.

2.Marriage supper of the Lamb of God – Takes place in heaven during the time of the Tribulation Period spoken by Daniel the prophet in Daniel 9:27, seven       years (one week), and for those watching and ready.
a.Matt. 22:1-14 – The king arranged a marriage for his son. Many are called but few chosen.
b.Matt 25:1-13 – The ten virgins, five were wise, five were foolish.
c.Matt. 7:21-23 – Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven.
d.Luke. 14: 15-24 – A man gave a great supper and invited many but they began to make excuses saying that they had more important things to do “first”.     Non of those men who were invited will taste my supper.
e.Luke 12:37 – The master when he comes will find those “watching”. He will have them sit down to eat and will serve them.
f.Luke 13:22-30 – Strive to enter the narrow gate, for many will seek to enter and not be able. He will say, I do not “KNOW” you, depart from Me you workers of iniquity.
g.Luke 21:34-36 – Let your hearts not be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the cares of this life and that day come upon you unexpectedly. “Watch and pray” that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass (Tribulation).
      h. Rev. 19:7-9 – Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.

3.The antichrist / devil / son of perdition will be revealed. – The rapture must take place, the removal of the Christians “restraining”, before the antichrist may be revealed.
2 Thess. 2:1-5 – That Day (7 year tribulation period) will not come unless the “falling away” comes first. The English word “apostasy” is the abandonment or renunciation of a religious belief. An “apostate” is one who does so. English translations before the KJV, John Wycliffe in year 1394 and William Tyndale in year 1526 translate “falling away as “departure” instead of “apostasy”. The original Greek “falling away” translation could mean the church being snatched away, “departure” or raptured. Both translations could be fitting and relative because of what John wrote in Rev. 3:14-22 about the works of the Laodicea church. They were lukewarm, so God will vomit them out of His mouth unless they repented.

My personal opinion is that right before the rapture takes place, there will be a great world revival and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit with healings, miracles, signs and wonders that will start “before” the rapture and continue into the tribulation period (Acts 2:17-21). All through the scriptures when God’s people turned away from Him, He would raise up prophets commanding them to “repent”, turn back to Him, or face destruction or captivity from their enemies. Most of the time they didn’t repent, or they listened to false prophets and suffered the consequences of their sin or rebellion. Repenting moves us from satan’s influence to God’s protection. The people of Nineveh repented and turned from their evil way when Jonah warned them of their coming destruction. God relented from the disaster that He would bring upon them (Jonah 3). In Heb. 12:25-29, God said that “once more I will not only shake the earth but also the heaven”. There may be tragedies or catastrophes that happen that will startle, spur or initiate the stagnate believers to repent and return back to the Lord, and many people will turn from agnosticism and false religions to Christianity because of God’s promise to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. God loves His creation, the saved and the lost (Jn. 3:16-17). God doesn’t want anyone to perish but to spend eternity with Him.

2 Thess. 2:6-7 – Before the lawless one may be revealed, “He who restrains” will do so until he will be taken out of the way. Some theologians say that “He who restrains” is the Holy Spirit, and some believe that “he who restrains” is the church. During the tribulation, there will be many alive and martyred believers who did not receive the mark of the beast (Rev. 6:9-11, 7:9-11). Daniel prophesied that the believers during the tribulation who know their God will be strong and carry out great exploits (Dan. 11:32). Jesus said, without Him, we can do nothing (Jn. 15:5). The 144,000 Jewish believers (Rev. 7:4-8, 14:1-5), God set a seal on their foreheads. The tribes of the children of Israel were sealed, protected by the Holy Spirit. If it “IS” the Holy Spirit that is taken away, His role of restraining the lawless one will cease. My personal opinion is that the church, the believers, IS that which restrains. Jesus gave the believers the keys (authority) to bind and loose the devil and demonic forces (Mt. 16:19, 18:18), and over all the power of the enemy (Lk. 10:19-20). James said that prayers of the righteous avails much (Jm. 5:16). Paul wrote that our fight is against principalities, powers of wickedness and rulers of darkness (Eph. 6:12), and our warfare weapons are mighty for pulling down strongholds (2Cor. 10:4).

God doesn’t desire that any man perish because of His great love for us. He proved His love by sending Jesus to pay for our sins with His righteousness. John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. God does not force us to love Him in return for His love for us but he gives us, His very Own creation, the free will to choose Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and escape eternal damnation. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11  For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you are doing. Revelation 3:10 Because you have My command to persevere, I will also keep you from the hour of trial we shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.A person cannot receive salvation by his own righteous works. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. To receive salvation and escape eternal damnation in hell, you must believe that:

1.Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
2.He was born of a virgin, Virgin Mary.
   3.He was righteous, never sinned.
4.He freely gave His life and was crucified for us to take our place in payment for our sin.
5.You must believe, confess and receive Jesus Christ as Lord of your life.

Romans 10:9-13 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

PRAYERS PLEASING TO GOD                                       Chaplain Jay Maltby

Prayers Pleasing to God

1.Deep emotional prayers - Prayers or groanings that are directed to God while under great pressure or despair. 1 Samuel 1:1-18 Hannah had been severely provoked and was grieving in her heart because she was barren. Hannah made a vow to God that if He would give her a male child that she would give him to the Lord all the days of his (Samuel) life. As Hannah spoke in her heart to the Lord, the priest Eli saw only her lips move, but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk. Hannah told Eli I’m a woman of a sorrowful spirit and I am not drunk but I have poured out my soul before the Lord. God answered the emotional prayer of her soul.
   2. Romans 8:26 –… The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered.
3.Ephesians 6:18 –… Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.
   4.1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing.
5.Pray for your enemies - 1 Peter 4:14 – If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rest upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. Matthew 5:11, 12, 44, 45 – Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My name’s sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven: for He makes His sun rise on evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

Avoid Vain Praying

1.Do not complain pray - Matthew 6:31-34 – Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear?” Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things, sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
2.Never pray the problem to God, but find the Scripture of promise that provides the answer to your situation and thank God for his provision by quoting that Scripture. This requires diligently seeking the Scriptures that pertain to your problem or situation.
   3. Unscriptural prayers – Asking people to agree in prayer about an “unspoken request” or “vindication against somebody” are unscriptural. A prayer warrior needs to base their faith on a scripture that addresses your situation. Here is a list of ways to ask for prayer of agreement that may be very personal:
•Marriage, spouse, family, co-workers, employers – Ask for God’s healing in your relationships.
•Sickness, disease – The Bible mentions every sickness, disease or adverse physical condition that people were healed of and “openly” God received the glory for the healing.
•Financial lack – Ask for financial wisdom and don’t be too proud to ask for financial help. That is what a church family is for.
      • Demonic attack – The enemy attacks us when we are overwhelmed with stress, or from any of the conditions listed above. Ephesians 6:12- For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places. Don’t be ashamed to ask for the agreement in prayer against spiritual attacks from the enemy. If you are a servant of the Lord, you are a candidate for a spiritual attack.
4.Always pray in faith and do not doubt. Mark 11:24 – Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. God is no respecter of persons. What he has done for others in the Bible he will also do for you.
5.Pray God’s promises of provision - 2 Corinthians 1:20 – For all the promises of God in Him, Jesus, are yes and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Matthew 7:5, 7 – Ask, and it be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
6.Pray openly to honor God not yourself - Matthew 6:5, 7 – And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you they have their reward. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
7.Open meetings with prayer - James 4:2 –… You do not have because you do not ask.
Philippians 4:6 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Matthew 18:19, 20 – I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

The “Our Father” Prayer

Jesus gave us an outline or guide of “how” to pray. Matthew 6:9 – In this ”manner” therefore pray:

1.Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
•Start your prayers with words of praise and worship to God. Psalm 100:2, 4 –… Come before His presence with singing. Enter His gates with   thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Psalm 95:2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving…
•Ephesians 2:18 – For through Him (Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
•Hebrews 4:16 & 10:19 – Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

2.Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
•Matthew 10:7, 8 – And as you go, preach, saying, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
•Matthew 5:14, 16– You are the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

3.Give us this day our daily bread.
•Luke 4:4 –… It is written; Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
•Philippians 4:19 – And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

4.Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
•Mark 11:25, 26 – And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you of your trespasses.
•Matthew 5:23, 24 – If you bring your gift to the altar, and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

5.Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
•1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
•Hebrews 2:18 – For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
•2 Peter 2:9 – The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations…
James 4:7, 8 – Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

6.For Yours is the kingdom the power and the glory forever. Amen.
•James 4:10 – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
•Philippians 4:6 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Rapture of the Church “Catching Up”                    Chaplain Jay Maltby

The word “Rapture” comes from the Latin word “Rapturo” which is a translation of the Greek word “Harpazo”. The word “Harpazo can be found 13 times in the New Testament. (Chuck Missler on Harpazo, The Rapture of the church, Part 1)

Past Raptures

Gen. 5:24, Heb. 11:5 – Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God “took him”.

2 Kings 2:11 – Elijah “went up” by a whirlwind into heaven.

Acts 1:9, 11 – He, Jesus, was “taken up”, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. This same Jesus who was “taken up” from you into heaven, will come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

Future Rapture Scriptures

John 14:3 – I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am you may be also.

Luke 21:36 – Watch therefore and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and stand before the Son of man.

1 Thess. 4:16, 17 – The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. 17. Then we who are alive and remain shall be “caught up” together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus shall we always be with the Lord. (Zech. 14:4 - Jesus does not step His foot on the earth until the “second coming”)

1 Cor. 15:51 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for a trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Many times while envisioning the rapture in my mind, and the sequence of events that will transpire “in the twinkling of an eye”, why do the saved souls in heaven come back to earth with Jesus to receive their new immortal bodies? God said that our bodies are dust and to dust you shall return (Gen. 3:19). What on earth, which is perishing (Psalm 102:25:26), do our souls and spirits need “from earth” for an incorruptible body? Well, maybe God says “IT’S TIME, GO GET THEM JESUS!”, and Jesus says “COME ON SAINTS, LETS GO FOR A THRILL RIDE THROUGH THE GALAXY TO EARTH TO GET YOUR FAMILY AND ENJOY THE GREATEST FAMILY REUNION EVER! That may not be the way that it happens, but it sure sounds like fun, and I know that “my” family loves to travel. John 16:24 – Ask and you will receive that your joy might be full. Mark 9:23 – If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.

In the past, I have considered that maybe “nobody” that has died in Christ has gone to heaven because in 1 Thess. 4:13-15 & 1 Cor. 15:51, Paul says that the dead in Christ “sleep”. But, the departed Christians “sleeping” does not line up with other Bible scriptures such as:

Luke 23:43 – And Jesus said to him (thief on the cross), “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.”

Matt. 27:50 – 53 – And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His Spirit. Then behold the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened and many of the bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

Psalm 68:18 – You have ascended on high, You have led away captive a train of vanquished foes; You have received gifts from among men, yes, of the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell there with them.

Eph. 4:8-10 – Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led away captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended” – what does mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fulfill all things.)

Acts 7:55, 56, 59 – But he (Stephen), being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing on the right hand of God!” And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

2 Cor. 5:6-8 – So we are always confident knowing that while we are home in the body we are “absent” from the Lord, for we walk by faith and not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be “present” with the Lord.

If we are present with the Lord when we die, then we are in heaven because Jesus is in heaven, not in the earth. The Holy Spirit is with us here on the earth. John 16:7 – Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Acts 1:9-11 - Jesus was “taken up” and a cloud received Him …. Who was taken up from you into heaven, and will come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51, Heb. 10:12, Col. 3:1 – Jesus is in heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.

Many Christians have testified of experiencing an encounter with Jesus in visions, dreams or bodily form. I believe that Jesus appeared as a theophany in the Old Testament as Melchizedek, King of Salem Gen. 14:18-20, Heb. 6:20-7:3,  The Angel of The Lord Gen. 16:7-13, 22:11, 15, Judges 2:1, 13:3, Commander of the Lord’s Army Joshua 5:14, and “like The Son of God Daniel 3:25. I certainly believe that Jesus can travel faster than the speed of light, with no resistance, between earth and His throne in heaven at any time He chooses.

Where do our souls and spirits go when our body dies?

Before man’s sin was paid for by Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, believers went to Abraham’s Bosom and non-believers went to Hades.

Luke 16:19-31 (abbrev.) - Jesus tells the story of the rich man clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day, and the beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, and ate the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. The beggar died and was carried by angels to Abrahams Bosom. The rich man also died and was tormented in Hades. The rich man lifted his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. The rich man asked for Lazarus to bring him a drop of water for his tongue but Abraham answered and said that Lazarus is comforted but you are tormented and between us there is a great gulf fixed so those who want to pass between us cannot.

  Jesus descended before He ascended.

Jesus preached to the spirits in prison (Hades), and the eight souls (Noah’s family) not being tormented.

1 Peter 3:18-20 – For Christ also suffered once for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is eight souls, were saved through water.

King Saul’s advising prophet Samuel died. Because of King Saul’s disobedience to God, neither God nor any of the prophets would answer, help or direct him. King Saul consults a witch to conjure up Samuel up from the dead.

1 Samuel 28:8-17 (abbrev.) – Saul disguised himself and said please conduct a séance for me, and bring up the one that I shall name to you. The woman (witch/medium) said, who shall I bring up for you? Saul said bring up Samuel for me. When the woman saw Samuel she screamed and said why have you deceived me? You are Saul! He said don’t be afraid, what did you see? The woman said, I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth. Saul said, what was his form? She said, an “old man” is coming up, and he is covered with a mantel. Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with face to the ground and bowed down. Then Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up? Saul said that the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore. Therefore I have called you that you may reveal to me what I should do. Samuel said, why do you ask me, seeing that the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor David
.
Apparently, God allowed a medium to bring up Samuel up from Abraham’s Bosom. King Saul did not receive the answer that he was looking for, but instead was reprimanded “by God” through this event with Samuel. Also, Samuel didn’t have a resurrected immortal body, because she saw an “old man”. Heaven is a place where no one is old, never grows old or ages or dies. Notice that Samuel came up from the ground and not down from heaven.

My opinion, according to the Bible scriptures and the events that the scriptures describe, is that before the crucifixion of Jesus, the righteous souls and spirits of those whose bodies died went to Abraham’s Bosom. The unrighteous souls and spirits of those whose bodies died went to Hades and are in torment.

1 Cor. 15:26 – The last enemy that will be destroyed will be death. This will not happen until after the millennium. Rev. 20:14, 21:4

2 Timothy 1:10 – but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

My opinion, according to the Bible scriptures and the events that the scriptures describe, is that after the crucifixion of Jesus, the saved believer in Christ whose body dies, their righteous soul and spirit goes to heaven where Jesus resides. The unsaved non-believer unrighteous soul and spirit of whose body dies go to Hades in torment.

My opinion, according to the Bible scriptures, only Jesus has His resurrected immortal body. The dead in Christ will receive their resurrected immortal bodies exactly before the rapture of the church. 1 Thess. 4:16, 17.

DON’T MISS THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH!

God does not want any of His children, the Christian believers, to go through the seven year tribulation period to be persecuted, tormented and even martyred for their faith in Jesus Christ. But sadly, many people including “sons of disobedience” may miss the rapture of the church. Many will miss the rapture and get left behind because of not really accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord, or by sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth. A “true” Christian has repented of their sin and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord. God gives those that receive salvation His grace, so that we can be made righteous through Jesus for a pure and holy relationship with God the Father. Grace is not a license to continue in sin. God calls the born again believers “the church” and the church is subject to Christ

Hebrews 10:25, 26, 29 – not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching, For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins….Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Colossians 3:5, 6 – Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanliness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 – For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jude 4, 18 – For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:5-7 – For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetousness man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies (lies), envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, those that “practice” such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 John 2:29 – If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who “practices” righteousness is born of Him.

1 John 3:7-10 – Little children, let no one deceive you. He who “practices” righteousness is righteousness, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in Him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of devil are manifest: whoever does not “practice” righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

Matthew 7:21-23 – Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who “practice” lawlessness.

Luke 21:34-36 – But take heed to yourselves least your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come upon you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who “dwell” (are still alive) on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.

Ephesians 5:27 - … that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Matthew 7:13, 14 – Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and few are those who find it.

Luke 13:24 – Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and not be able.

Revelation 3:10 – Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

After a person receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they should not delay in making the decision to be water baptized. Jesus Himself was water baptized to set the example for born again believers to follow. God sent Philip to meet an Ethiopian eunuch of great authority and explain Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God and the meaning of salvation. When the eunuch received salvation he asked to be baptized and they walked to the water that was near and Philip baptized the eunuch. Then the Spirit immediately took (translated) Philip to Azotus. (Acts 8:26-38) Water baptism is complete submersion under the water, as Jesus came “UP” from the water and the Holy Spirit came upon Him like a dove. (Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-12) Baptism is not what saves us, but is a representation of what took place in our soul and spirit the moment that we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We were buried with Him through baptism into death, meaning our old sinful man was crucified with Him so that we should no longer be slaves to sin. (Romans 6:1-8, Colossians 2:11, 12)

What will happen to those that are not “raptured” with the church as written in 1 Thess. 4:16-5:11, 1Cor. 15:50-55, and Acts 1:9-11 when Jesus comes to remove the believers from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world as written in Rev. 3:10 ?

1.)Don’t give up thinking that you missed your chance to go to heaven, and do not get angry or bitter towards God. The babies and children under the age of accountability will be also taken in the rapture. The mental and special needs people will be raptured. You still have an opportunity to spend eternity in heaven with your family or loved ones that were ‘not appointed to wrath, but to salvation 1 Thess. 5:9’. First, repent and ask the Holy Spirit for His direction and protection. He may lead you to another place or safe haven for refuge among other believers. It will be very difficult to be a Christian because of the persecution from the non-believers and the fact that the anti-christ will rule during the tribulation period. God will eventually remove the saints and many of them will be martyred for their faith and belief in Jesus Christ. NEVER give up!

Revelation 6:9-11; 7:9-14 – When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and their testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge the blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Then a white robe was given to each of them and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, completed. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, all of nations, tribes, peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb!” All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and Glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be unto our God forever and ever. Amen.” Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood on the Lamb.” Many call this the “Mid – Tribulation Rapture”.

Daniel 11:32-35 – Those who do wickedly against the covenant he (satan) shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering. Now when they fall, they shall be aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by intrigue. And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for an appointed time.

2.)Don’t believe the great lie and follow or worship this one world government, anti-christ leader. The bible calls him “the beast” a man that is submitted to and controlled by the spirit of satan. He will be given the ability to conquer, take peace from the earth and deceive the whole world. He will revive from a deadly wound and be able to perform great signs and wonders and will also cause the “image” of the beast speak. He will kill anyone who does not worship the image of the beast. God will cause a strong delusion that they should believe the lie. There will be “only” saints living in truth for Jesus Christ, persecuted and possibly martyred “or” followers of the antichrist, satan, but not both. You cannot be undecided, but forced to choose.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 – The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of satan, with all power, signs and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie and that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Corinthians 11:14, 15 - …For satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Revelation 6:2-4 – And I looked, and behold a white horse. He (antichrist) who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went out conquering to conquer. When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to him who sat upon it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.

Revelation 13:3, 8, 13-15 – And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. All of the world marveled and followed the beast. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. He deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many who would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

3.)Don’t take the Mark of the beast. It will be a Mark on the forehead or the hand. It will be a Mark that people will consciously know that they are taking. Once you take the Mark, God will hold you eternally accountable for your decision. Your opportunity for eternal salvation will be gone forever. Although, there will be consequences of being persecuted for not taking the Mark of the beast. Without the Mark, a person will not be able to buy or sell. It will be very difficult to provide for your families. God is Jehovah Jireh our provider, so in the tribulation, Christians will learn to live completely by faith. (We should be living by faith now before the tribulation.) Christians will gradually not be able to “blend” in or be friends with non-Christians, or unbelieving family members. The Mark will be used for business transactions and probably replace cash money, credit cards, the social security number, passports and other forms of personal identification.

Revelation 14:9-11 – Then a third angel followed them, saying in a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his Mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they shall have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Revelation 13:16-18 – He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a Mark on their right hand or their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the Mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

Revelation 20:4 – And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his Mark on their foreheads or their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (end)

In my distress I called upon the name of the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears. He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out to a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. As for God His way is perfect. The Word of the Lord is proven. He is a shield to all who trust Him. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and sets me on my high places. You enlarged my path under me so my feet did not slip. You have given me the necks of my enemies, so that I destroyed those who hated me. The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted! He shall cover me with His feathers, and under His wings I shall take refuge; His truth shall be my shield and buckler. I shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at my side, and ten thousand at my right hand; But it shall not come near me. Only with my eyes shall I look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because I have made the Lord who is my refuge, Even the Most High my dwelling place, No evil shall befall me, Nor shall any plague come near my dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over me, To keep me in all my ways. In their hands they shall bear me up, Least I dash my foot against a stone. I shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent I shall trample under foot. Because I have set my love upon Him, Therefore He will deliver me; He will set me on high, because I have known His name. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake. Behold, I have created the blacksmith who blows the coals in the fire, who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe you receive them and you will have them.                                                                                                      “Get God's Perspective”                                                   by Rev. Jay Maltby

Mk. 6:34 Jesus teaches the 5,000 (Mt. 14:14, Lk. 9:10, Jn. 6:1)

Mk. 6:35 Disciples said "deserted place & it is late" neg. attitude (Mt. 14:15)

Mt. 14:16, Mk. 6:36 Send them away to eat.. The disciple’s perspective..... They do not need to go away... is God's perspective.

Mk. 6:37 "You" give them something to eat. God's perspective. Mt. 14:17 We have "only" ...The disciples perspective

Mt. 10:1,7,8, Mk. 6:7, Lk. 9:1 Jesus gave the disciples authority "before" the feeding of the 5,000. When we are anointed with spiritual authority, God expects us to reach out to others needs with His miraculous provision. Mt. 5:42 Give to him who asks you.

2 Kings 4:1-7 The widow's oil. Elisha said, what do you have in the house? 2 Cor. 9:10 God supplies seed to the sower. Give to God what we have and He will multiply it more than enough. (Pay debt and live off of the rest and gather 12 baskets left over) Jireh, El Shaddai. Faith was gathering empty vessels. Mt. 16:35 Disciples faith was bringing 2 fish and 5 loaves for 5,000 men, and commanding them to sit in groups of hundreds and fifties, before He blessed and broke the loaves.

James. 2:17 Faith w/o works is dead.

2 Kings 4:4 ...shut the door behind you and your sons. Keep out doubt and unbelief like Jesus w/Jairus' dead daughter. Lk. 8:54, Mk. 5:40 Jesus put out doubt and unbelief. Acts 9:40 Peter removed the weeping widows, any doubt and unbelief.

Mt. 18:19, 20 Power of agreement. Touch KJV, Joshua 1:3, 14:9, Deut.11:24 Every place the sole of your foot will tread upon, I will give to you.
2Cor 6:14-18 What agreement has the temple of God with unbelievers?

Mt. 6:10 The Lord's Prayer... Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.... Through us, God's heavenly provision on earth. We are vessels of the H.S.

1 Cor. 3:3 God is opposed to us behaving as "mere" men.

Mk. 6:45-52 Read. Jesus strongly urged (Mt. 14:22) the disciples to get into the boat and go.
Vs. 48 Jesus saw them straining, Vs.49 Must call out Jer. 33:3

Why did Jesus send them into the storm? Jn. 6:15 They were going to take Jesus by force to make Him king..Jn. 6:22-25 They were seeking Jesus. The storm prevented other boats from chasing the disciples so they could start their new mission. Just because we are in a storm, doesn’t mean we are out of the will of God. Rm. 8:28 All things work together for good...

Jn. 6:21 Immediately they were on the other side.

Jn. 14:16,17,26 & 16:13-15 Ask the H.S. in times of need or lack to show us what God 's perspective is, what do I have that God can bless and multiply to meet that need. The key is to meet the need of others as well as my own.

The difference between faith and hope is faith is an action word. Ask God to bless an action of faith of what we have to put in motion the miracle of provision for us and others.

                                                                                                       TACTFUL WITNESSING                        Rev. Jay Maltby

Here are some "GUIDELINES" to help prepare a person for witnessing to others salvation through Jesus Christ. This is "NOT" a step by step process.

1.)Pray first and invite the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:26, Pvb. 3:5,6, Pvb. 16:3)

2.)Introduce yourself. Ask a question they have to answer, yes, no or I’m not sure. (Are you positive you will go to heaven?)

3.)If you are door to door witnessing, try to get passed the door into the house. Don’t be timid.

4.)Explain compassionately why you are there. (Matt. 28:19, Acts 11:4

5.)Share the Gospel accurately (Pvb. 30:6) Basics of salvation, repentance, redemption, healing, peace, ect. Give correct scriptures pertaining to the topic. (Rm. 3:23, 5:8, 5:12, 6:23, 10:9,10, Eph. 2:1-10, Jn. 3:16, All of Jn. 3, 1Jn. 4:15, Matt. 10:32,33, 2Tim. 2:11-13 ect.)

6.)Give a short personal testimony of how God changed your life. Don’t over-say the pronoun “I”, say “Jesus…”.

7.)Avoid objections; Don’t argue or object; Change the subject; You can’t win an argument and a soul at the same time.

8.)Pull in the net. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Cor. 6:2)

9.)Follow-up. Contact them by phone or another visitation.

10.)Continue to smile and be kind and joyful. The joy of the Lord is your strength. (Neh. 8:10, Gal. 5:22)

WITNESSING AVOIDANCES

1.)Don’t wait until you "feel like" witnessing. (Gal. 5:16)

2.)Don’t argue.

3.)Don’t attempt to force or prove the truth. God’s Word is enough (Is. 55:11)

4.)Don’t try explain spiritual things without scripture because the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. (2 Cor. 2:14). “Where did God come from?”, “Time vs. eternity, how old is the earth”, “Evolution vs. Creation” ect. It is OK to not know all the answers. Christianity is faith not intellectualism.

5.)Magnify Gods Word vs. personal experiences

6.)Never exalt yourself above the person(s) you are witnessing to.

7.)Remember, don’t overuse the pronoun “I”.

8.)Don’t hurry over the scriptures, the “seed”, which is the most important. Emphasize what is needful.

9.)Don’t quote every scripture from memory or hearsay. Use the bible.

10.)Don’t condemn sinners because they are already under condemnation. (Rm. 8:1)

11.)Don’t wait to pray. Pray right there. You can pray many times throughout the witnessing.

12.)Don’t dwell on their bad habits or shortcomings. Talk about what Christ has done for them.

13.)Don’t bring too many points. Keep it simple

14.)Be in control of the subject, don’t be led away.

15.)Stick to God’s Word, not your opinions.

16.)Don’t act victorious or proud when you prove a point. “I got you there!”

17.)Don’t discuss side issues. Finish the point “then” move on.

18.)Don’t use your sad stories to lead them to Christ, use the scriptures. The Word is anointed and alone brings conviction and the desire for salvation.

19.)Don’t take a lot of time, answer each wisely. It is OK not to know, or tell them there is an answer and you will find out later and let them know. This gives an opportunity for follow-up.

20.)Think before you speak. As ambassadors of Christ, we must represent Him accurately.

21.)Don’t tell them to think it over. Bring them to a “yes or no” decision.

22.)Don’t force anyone to accept Christ. Sometimes we need to allow the Word time to work. They may receive later. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. (1Cor. 3:6)

23.)Be polite; allow them to speak but be not dominating.

24.)Don’t be a hypocrite; we are righteous through Jesus, nobody is perfect but Jesus.

25.)Don’t discuss bad church conditions or past mistakes. We all miss it from time to time.

26.)Don’t use Christian phrases such as; Are you washed in the blood? Have you been redeemed from the curse? Do you need to be sanctified? These phrases may scare them and turn them away from listening. Just say “you need Jesus”.
